Childhood sweethearts celebrate diamond wedding anniversary
CHILDHOOD sweethearts Betty and John Weekes felt great when they celebrated their 60 years of marriage in Tonna. They claimed their diamond wedding anniversary day felt like as if it had taken place only yesterday.
The lovely couple, of Llys Wenallt, met as children when Mr. Weekes visited his aunt, who lived on the same street as Betty.
Their wedding took place at Cadoxton Church on March 27, 1948, and they enjoyed their honeymoon with a trip to the beautiful city of London.
The happy couple celebrated their anniversary at the Sports Pavilion Bar and Restaurant in Llandarcy and in this memorable occasion, they were joined by their three daughters, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Weekes celebrated their love with tears of joy in their eyes; needless to say, love and diamond wedding rings complement each other very well.
